Prof. Mukesh Kumar
Biography
Dr. Mukesh Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from IIT Delhi for his research on transparent conducting oxide nanostructures. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at South Dakota State University (USA) focusing on nanoscale charge transport in organic solar cells, and subsequently at the Colorado School of Mines and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL, USA) on flexible thin films for optoelectronics and lithium-ion batteries. Prior to joining IIT Ropar, Prof. Kumar worked in the semiconductor characterization industry (Hysitron Inc., USA). He has published more than 85 research articles in high-impact journals such as Energy & Environmental Science, ACS Photonics, ACS Sensors, Small, and Applied Physics Letters.
He is a recipient of many prestigious awards including the DAE Young Scientist Research Award, Indo-US BASE (Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy) Fellowship, the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship, and the IIT Ropar Early Career Faculty Research and Innovation Award. He is a selected member of the Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP). Recently, his research group won the first prize in India in the DRDO Dare2Dream 4.0 national competition.
