Research Opportunities
"We are always looking for motivated, passionate, and bright minds to join our research group. If you are excited about solid-state physics, wide bandgap semiconductors, flexible electronics, and photovoltaic devices, explore the options below to work with us."
Ph.D. Candidates
Candidates who have qualified for national level fellowships such as CSIR-UGC-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, or have a valid GATE score and a strong foundation in Solid State Physics, Condensed Matter, Electronics, or Materials Science are highly encouraged to apply.
How to apply: You can send your detailed CV and a brief research statement highlighting your interest directly to mkumar@iitrpr.ac.in. Official applications must be submitted through the IIT Ropar Ph.D. admission portal during the Autumn (March/April) and Spring (September/October) cycles.
IIT Ropar PhD PortalPostdoctoral Researchers
We welcome applications from motivated researchers who have recently completed their Ph.D. or are about to submit their thesis. Candidates with expertise in thin-film depositions, sputtering systems, 2D semiconductor heterostructures, Schottky barrier diodes, or perovskite fabrication are preferred.
If you plan to apply for external postdoctoral fellowships such as SERB National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NPDF), DST-PDF, or institutional fellowships and wish to host your project in our lab, please contact Prof. Mukesh Kumar with a CV and a draft research proposal.
Project Students (B.Tech & M.Sc.)
Students currently enrolled at IIT Ropar in the B.Tech. Engineering Physics or M.Sc. Physics programs who are looking for semester projects or summer internship projects are welcome to join.
Please feel free to visit Prof. Mukesh Kumar at his office (Room A-M21, Har Gobind Khorana Block) or email him to discuss ongoing research topics and lab placements.
