About the Workshop

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is organizing a Workshop on Experimental Design and Data Analysis (R). This workshop will introduce the participants with the basic concepts of experimental design and data analysis issues in the field of social sciences (with special focus on Experimental Linguistics, Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Sciences). Research scholars interested to learn R for statistics are encouraged to attend the workshop. There will be three sessions :  

Friday, 17/03/2017     1st Session 2.30pm to 5.30pm Issues in Experimental Design  

Saturday, 18/03/2017   2nd Session 10am to 1pm  Statistical Analysis Part 1  

Saturday, 18/03/2017   3rd Session 2pm to 5pm Statistical Analysis Part 2

 

Brief Bio-sketch of the speaker

Samar Husain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi, India. He joined the department in December 2014. From 2011-2014 he was a postdoctoral researcher at Vasishth lab, University of Potsdam, Germany. He completed his PhD in computational linguistics from IIIT-Hyderabad, India in 2011.

His broad research interests are human sentence processing, natural language parsing, natural language modeling, and dependency grammars. His current research investigates questions concerning the predictive nature of human sentence processing, working-memory constraints and the interaction between the two. In addition to the research on sentence comprehension, he is also interested in reading processes in Hindi and Urdu.
