'Credit Spill-over, Growth and Convergence: Evidence from Indian States’

Abstract

The study aims to model the effects of credit spillovers on India’s regional growth and convergence, controlling a wide range of other determinants of growth that are common in growth literature. We also propose to analyse how credit spillover across Indian states affects growth performance of various sectors such as agriculture, industry and services and how it affects structural changes in Indian economy during last three decades. We also propose to investigate whether financial liberalization measures introduced since early 1990s significantly affect the nature of migration of credit
