Biography:
Dr. Ashish Sahani is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Center for Bio-medical Engineering (CBME) of Indian Institute of Technology Ropar. He did his PhD in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras in the beginning of 2015. After that, he went through multiple postdoctoral training at prestigious universities including IIT Madras, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and University of Michigan Health System. At University of Michigan, his work was focused on cardiovascular applications of Acoustic radiation force impulse. Previously, he was a research fellow at the Cardiovascular Research Center of Massachusetts General Hospital. There, his core work was aimed at developing technologies that integrate information from multiple physiological data sources to prevent false alarms in ICU monitors. <br> During his PhD, he worked on the development of a novel arterial stiffness measurement device – ARTSENS. It uses a single element ultrasound transducer to get A-Mode RF signals from the artery and is an imageless device. It is fully automated in all parts of its algorithm and thus enables a general medical practitioner to perform the measurements without any knowledge of ultrasound. This device is especially useful for low- and middle- income countries.
