National Technology Day


Indian Institute of Technology Ropar celebrated National Technology Day on 12 May, 2022 with a series of invited lectures and an exhibition of the posters, product and innovations from the students of the Institute. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Sh. H.B.Srivastava, Director General (DG), Technology Management, System Analysis and Modelling (SAM), DRDO. Around 500 students participated in the event.
Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar emphasized the importance of cultivating a culture of innovation and Collaboration in the Institute. Stressing on the two points of focus of IIT Ropar, he said, “Today, Technology is power and it is important for us to develop the technology locally so as to explore how best we can lead our Nation to emerge as a technological power and IIT Ropar is significantly contributing to the country's development with its technological innovations and expertise in various fields.”
The Chief Guest of the event, Sh. H.B Srivastava shared the Thrust areas of Defence R&D where young and budding scientists can contribute for making indigenous products like Weapon Systems, Space, Robotics, Cyber Security, Materials and Devices, Artificial Intelligence to name a few thereby paving the roadmap for the growth of India.
During the expert talks from the eminent personalities from the Industry, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & CEO, AMTZ (Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone) briefed about, how the recent COVID-19 pandemic has provided a compelling opportunity for R&D institutions, academia and industry to work in unison for sharing of purpose, synergy, collaboration and cooperation. Dr. Kartik Kumar, Deputy Director (R&D), Saint Gobain shared his thoughts on empowering science and technology for the socio-economic upliftment of our State and Nation. Mr. Abhishek Goel, Vice President Global Practice Head, Infosys talked about, how younger generation to be first-hand experience and exposure to be creative and innovative through effective exposure to science, technology and society interface.
Prof. Naveen Kumar, Dean, Research and Development, IIT Ropar, while giving closing remarks shared that such celebrations give an effective exposure to science, technology and helps to inspire and encourage the younger generation thereby contributing to the cause of peace and better quality of life for humanity at large.
