Dr. Reet Kamal Tiwari
Associate Professor & Head

Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering!

The Department of Civil Engineering was established on 1st July 2016 with a vision to be a world-renowned department having commitment towards producing erudite engineers and executing transformative research. The Department is young with vibrant and energetic faculty members, constantly striving to do their best in teaching and research. The Department now has state-of-the-art laboratories, facilitating UG-PG teaching and research. The B. Tech. Civil Engineering curriculum is carefully designed to prepare the students for critical thinking and to tackle unorthodox challenges in the field of Civil Engineering. The Department is fully committed to train and transforming the UG students into able professionals who are ready to contribute to the nation-building.

The Department offers two major post-graduate programs, M.Tech. in Water Resources and Environment; and Structural Engineering and Geomechanics. The M.Tech. The Water Resources and Environment program has been initiated with the aim to produce specialized manpower in the broad field of water resources with adequate sensitization towards environmental aspects with an overall objective to meet the increasing demand for manpower in the water/environment industry and research. Environmental pollution and climate change have significantly affected water resources globally. The need for prudent and scientific ways to manage the country’s water resources is very crucial these days. Through the M.Tech program in Water Resources and Environment, the Department prepares the students to address these challenges. The Department has also started an M.Tech program in Structural Engineering and Geomechanics from the Academic Year of 2022-23. The main aim of this program is to produce manpower in the broad field of structural engineering with an adequate understanding of geomechanics to meet the present and futuristic challenges in infrastructure development. Both the PG programs are designed in such a way that students can orient themselves for the industry as well as for academia based on their aptitude.

The Department offers the best possible environment for research. Major thrust areas of research include water resources, climate change, water, and air quality, earthquake engineering, landslides, and transportation planning. Currently, the Department has Rs. 949.10 Lacs worth of projects in a short span of time after its inception. This clearly shows the dedication of our faculty members toward research. We also have experienced and knowledgeable non-teaching staffs who are always available to help the research scholars. Many of the students have also received several awards during national and international level technical meetings/conferences.

On behalf of all the Civil Engineering fraternity, I welcome you all to the Department.
