Prof. Harpreet Singh is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Ropar. Prof. Harpreet Singh joins IIT Ropar as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Before joining IIT Ropar, he taught at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib. He has received Young Scientist Award, Career Award for Young Teachers, and Maharashtra Award for Outstanding Research Work by Teachers of Engineering Colleges. To his credit, he has completed several CSIR, DST and AICTE sponsored projects. Dr. Singh has attended conferences in USA, Canada, Netherlands, and South Korea.

With research experience since the early 2000s, Dr. Singh specializes in surface engineering, particularly thermal spray and cold spray techniques, corrosion and erosion resistance, biomedical coatings, and cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM).  He led the establishment of a national facility in high-pressure cold spray at IIT Ropar, which serves both surface engineering and additive manufacturing applications. 

Dr. Singh has published extensively — over 200 journal and conference papers — and holds multiple patents. He has supervised numerous PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, and undertaken many national and international sponsored projects.  He has also served as Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and is actively involved with professional societies in coatings, additive manufacturing, and materials degradation.
