Associate Professor
PhD 2016, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, India

Dr. Chandrakant K. Niralais has been working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Ropar since 2024. He has been associated with IIT Ropar since 2017, when he started working as an Assistant Professor. Prior to this, he worked for The LNM Institute of Information Technology, Jaipur, India, for almost a year as an Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical-Mechatronics Engineering. He began his research career at the National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur (CSIR), in 2008, working on the development of Lighter Metallic Materials for Engineering Applications. After working for a year, he made a strategic career move to pursue higher studies and completed his M.Tech and Ph.D from IIT Hyderabad and IIT Patna, respectively. His research interests span both conventional and non-conventional manufacturing.  Much of his work has focused on Real-time data acquisition, tool condition and process monitoring, sensor-based signal processing, optimization, and feasibility studies. Recently, he has also explored other research directions, including Multiphysics simulation of EDM discharge plasma and the hybridization of machining processes. The key contributions at various stages have been published in several SCI/SCIE/ESCI international journals; details can be found on the personal webpage.
