We are a young and dynamic department committed to excellence in research, technology innovation, and academic teaching. In eight years, we’ve produced multiple batches of alumni at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels —many thriving in industry and academia. Our faculty have secured significant projects from national agencies, ministries, and industrial consultancy, focusing on cutting-edge fields like complex fluids, catalysis, molecular simulations, and process intensification.
Our academic programs—B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D—emphasize strong fundamentals alongside practical training through lab exercises, industry internships, and capstone projects. Infact, to a certain degree, the B.Tech and M.Tech programs have also acted as feeders into our doctoral program and other reputed institutes. We are also fostering a consultancy culture with CPD training courses and support for industry. Short-term programs in water treatment and energy efficiency have already been conducted by our faculty.
We are now working to address challenges such as declining M.Tech enrollments and low JEE ranks for B.Tech enrollment. We are enhancing our outreach activities and have also opened the M.Tech program to allied disciplines in 2025. This has resulted in an incremental rise in M.Tech intake this year. With regards to the B.Tech program, we have also chalked up plans to redesign the curriculum. This redesign will ensure that our students obtain sufficient exposure to Computational & Numerical analytical methods as well as probability and statistics. Further, I am glad to inform that the JEE ranks of incoming students have also improved. This is definitely a testimony to the massive effort of our faculty. By 2029, we aim to establish Centres of Excellence in our thrust research areas. We are guided by the theme “Envision and create the future beyond tomorrow,” and look forward to an engaging and fruitful period for faculty and students.
