IIT Ropar offers a prestigious Summer Internship Programme for students from recognized institutions across India. The internship is designed to provide hands-on research experience under the guidance of IIT Ropar faculty members in various departments and interdisciplinary centres.
The programme runs during 15th May to 15th July 2026 in offline (on-campus) mode. Selected interns will work under the Centre of Drones and Autonomous System (DRAS)
A research-oriented program focused on advanced drone and autonomous systems.
The program provides strong foundations in sensing, control, AI, and autonomous systems, along with hands-on and research-based training. Students gain experience in integrating hardware and software components such as sensors, embedded systems, and intelligent algorithms.
It also covers advanced topics including computer vision, machine learning, and multi-agent systems, along with safety, security, and regulatory aspects. Graduates are prepared for careers in industry, research, startups, and doctoral studies across sectors like agriculture, logistics, defense, and smart cities.

A one-year program designed to build practical skills in drone and autonomous technologies.
The program focuses on drone fundamentals including flight mechanics, sensing, navigation, and control, combined with hands-on training in building and operating drone systems.
Students are introduced to AI, computer vision, GPS/GNSS, and data analysis, along with applications in agriculture, infrastructure monitoring, logistics, surveillance, and disaster management. Emphasis is also placed on safety, regulations, and ethical practices.
