The Machine Design Research Laboratory (MDRL) contributes to educate the undergraduate student as well as in the research areas in the field of Mechanical Design. The mission of MDRL is innovative mechanical component design, improve design quality, shorten design time, and enhance design education. The design tools developed include design methodology and computer-aided design software systems. The foundation of this development is the science of design, which provides scientific means for studying design activities. The design tools are used to help companies rapidly develop high quality new products. The active research areas of MDL are dynamics of rotating machinery, finite and element methods and biomedical field. MDRL is under the direction of Dr. Navin Kumar and consists of three other faculty members and some Ph.D students.
