Anoop Jacob Thomas
Mr. Thomas is a Research Scholar pursuing PhD in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar. He graduated with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering from Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering (University of Kerala), Trivandrum. After his graduation he worked as a Guest Lecturer in Computer Science in Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering, Trivandrum. Later on he joined Mar Baselios College of Engineering & Technology as a Lecturer in Computer Science & Engineering. After working as a lecturer for about an year, he joined Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, as a Research Assistant in the MHRD sponsored project "Assimilation of Open Source Software in Science & Engineering" (FOSSEE) and worked with the "Python for Scientific Computing" group headed by Dr. Prabhu Ramachandran of Aerospace Engineering Department, IIT Bombay. He was in charge of the "Sage Days 25" conference held in IIT Bombay in August 2010. He was also a part of the 'course design', 'text book conversion', 'spoken tutorials', 'Workshop on Python for Scientific Computing' projects and SciPy conferences(2009, 2010) held during his tenure. He was also an active member of the Free Software Users Group Trivandrum and was part of the Free Software Free Society Conference held in 2008 (FSFS.IN 2008) and had come up with ideas of install fests, poster exhibition. He was also involved in spreading the word about Free Software and has conducted seminars in colleges in and around Trivandrum, Kerala.
